Job Description

We are seeking a Head of Marketing who combines creativity with analytical rigor. You’ll be responsible for designing and executing the strategies that drive customer acquisition, retention, and brand awareness. This role is hands-on and entrepreneurial, perfect for someone with taste, hustle, and the ability to turn ideas into measurable results.

You’ll work directly with the Chief Growth Officer and collaborate across sales, product, design, and operations to grow the Commonplace brand and user base.

Responsibilities

  • Content Development & Strategy: Create and manage a content roadmap across blog, email, social, and partnerships.
  • PR & Partnerships: Build and manage strategic partnerships, pitch press opportunities, and execute campaigns with aligned brands.
  • Email Marketing: Own lifecycle and retention marketing (e.g., Klaviyo), building automated flows and testing campaigns to maximize engagement.
  • Customer Delight Marketing: Lead creative initiatives like thank-you cards, gifts, and community-building touchpoints.
  • Growth Campaigns: Execute guerrilla marketing, referral programs, and creative acquisition campaigns.
  • Performance Marketing: Manage paid acquisition across digital channels (Meta, Google, TikTok, etc.), with an eye toward CAC and ROI.
  • Analytics & Experimentation: Build dashboards, track KPIs, and run experiments to drive conversion and retention.
  • Social & Team Leadership: Shape Commonplace’s social presence, grow community engagement, and manage part-time creators as the marketing function scales.

Who You Are

You enjoy a challenge and are excited by the prospect of building the marketing engine for a two-sided consumer marketplace.

  • 4-7 years of marketing experience, ideally with exposure to both brand and performance/growth marketing.
  • Strong understanding of digital channels (paid, social, email, content).
  • Demonstrated history of successfully executed campaigns across any channels, such as email, Meta/Google ads, organic & paid social that led to significant increase in revenue and/or new customer acquisition
  • Organized, self-starter, and entrepreneurial.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and spoken.
  • Creative, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity.

Prior experience in tech, consumer, or marketplaces a plus.
